About me

I am a full-time professor of cello at New World School of the Arts in Miami and enjoy a career full of a wide range of performing. I have played in venues from Carnegie Hall to ice cream shops and have performed, taught, and presented across North America and Europe. I have a Ph.D. in Music Performance from NYU with other degrees from Boston Conservatory and The Hartt School. In addition to giving masterclasses at colleges and universities across America, I have created a nonprofit organization Cello Lab to support local communities by providing high-quality educational and performance opportunities for developing cellists. My teaching prioritizes an individualized approach for each learner, and I believe technique should be efficient and replicable. Playing the cello is a balance between the mental construction of music and the ability to control the physics of the instrument to produce your desired sound, and learning cello requires focus on both elements. I approach lessons with organization and a personalized progression through different repertoire from all stylistic periods, and I consider the learner’s wishes when selecting repertoire to work on. Studying the cello includes learning to practice, for which I have developed several methods and programs over my years of teaching. Read my complete bio here.

My students have earned admission to schools including Juilliard, Boston Conservatory (with Presidential Scholarship), Manhattan School of Music, NYU (full scholarship), University of Florida, and Lynn University, with graduate teaching assistantships offered from the University of Iowa, Florida State University, and University of South Florida. I have helped countless students overcome tendonitis and other pains associated with playing, and I believe in a goal-oriented approach to learning accomplished through clear, calculated action steps.

I require that my students practice daily (with the occasional day off) and complete the assignments given at the end of each lesson. Cost is subject to live vs online format; please connect with me for specifics.
